Singapore Keppel Corp Gets US$102M Oil Rig Contract
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Singapore's Keppel Corp. Ltd. (K02.SG) Monday said it has secured a contract worth US$102 million from U.S.-based Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. to upgrade a semisubmersible oil rig.
Semisubmersibles are oil rigs that operate in deeper waters compared with jackup oil rigs, which operate in shallower waters.
Upgrading work on the semisubmersible, called Ocean Monarch, will start in mid-2006 and is expected to be operationally ready in the fourth quarter of 2008, Keppel said in a statement."
