Old age and nurturing of young in Singapore

Being old age in Singapore,

Today, after buying dinner from my grandma who is now staying alone because my aunt who had been staying with her is in a hospital for long term treatment,I met another aunt who came to visit my grandma.

As I walked with her to the MRT, she shared with me her worries on supporting her flat and also her deep worries for my 2 younger cousins. I can only imagine the helplessness she felt in the choices of her children.

Being old is Singapore is actually a very bleak situation to be in,
With the economy and living standard so high, many families are barely struggling to make ends make with both parents working so as to pay housing loans and etc.

With both spouse working, care of the young is usually left to many childcare centers or with elderly, that is provided the elderly are themselves healthy and willing to provide care to the younger generations.

What if the children are struggling to make ends meet? If they are unable to provide sufficient care to their elderly.. Should they be solely at fault? Many a times in life, we have less choices than we think we have.

Dilemmas and contradictions. Life is as smooth as we make it out to be.
